New candidate for SH Award: Kimble

It's been a pretty slow day here at SH, but here's some light entertainment. Kimble to Russell Brown:
Is it every second or third sentence you read RB? Well, lets just cover all bases. How is the comments section coming along?

I've found a plugin for WordPress called Democracy AJAX Poll, so perhaps one day we can have the readers vote on potential recipients of the SH Award such as Kimble.

UPDATE: A lefty confused about authors of Sir Humphrey's:
Aren’t the Sir Humphreys boys tough when they make up nasty names like Wussel.
The Sir Humphrey's boys? What's up with that. My understanding is "Wussel" has some sort of historical meaning. I came across it being used by others long before I started blogging. Yes, that means the quote above is wrong about pretty much everything.

UPDATE2 (completely unrelated!): We made it to 147 on the TTLB's Ranking by Traffic. In a few couple of days we'll drop right back down again.
147) Sir Humphrey's 4910 visits/day (1625)

I think I first saw it on DPF's blog. Someone who has known Brown for a long time, possibly even David Farrar himself. I'm sure Zen can testify that all our authors are not boys. BTW, whom was the idiot? Must have been munching too much DDT latly. It gives you thin skins don't you know. Well, if you are an egg, that is.

Wussell was invented by nzpundit after RB called him names. So RB started it actually.

Berend- do you recall what names Russ used? A date maybe? If so I can do a search on nzpundit.com.

Earliest reference on NZPundit is 24 January 2002 at which time Wussel was already well established and in use.

Here's my 2 cents worth:

1. I can testify I'm a man. I can handle being called a boy if that makes the anti-SH crowd happy.

2. I can testify Lucyna is neither man nor boy.

3. Russell's name is Russell. I personally don't see the point calling him Wussell, even if some-one else did it in 2002. As annoying as he may be, and Phul (Phil) and Anon (Anonymous) etc etc, it only lowers the tone and distracts people from debating the real points, often which are highly debatable anyway.

That being said, the name twisting isn't the worst thing in the world, compared to making offensive insults because....

4. Those on the left are hardly blameless with the name calling. I've had people warp my handle (ZenPuss seems to be popular), and one seemed to be offended the word Zen was incorporated in my handle at all (I think he was attached to the name "Zen" which is kind of ironic in that zen is about losing attachments to such trivia) and many seem to misspell or simply abbreviate names of others, which is equally impolite (Lucy is a completely different name than Lucyna for example, but seems like a popular truncation with some left commenters when I've noticed them responding to Lucyna.

That is why I try to remember Ackers1 has the 1 after it. If that's his handle, that's his handle.

3. I can't speak for the rest of SH, and nasty is relative, but I don't think we are all nasty all of the time. There are 8 of us.

4. Our commenters, of which we have a reasonably wide and varied bunch, tend to get lumped in as "Sir Humphrey's guys" when it suits the left. Yet Frog Blog and others are quick to assert that commenters do not necessary represent the Green party, even if they apparently worship the ground the Greens keep GE/DDT free. But again, this doesn't worry me. More an observation - I personally welcome a wide range of comments, even if we get the odd nut job from the fringes. Some of them still come out with points in amongst the radical viewpoint.

Well, that's the way I see it.

It seems to me (especially after browsing the thread in question on DPF) that anyone who challanges Green orthodoxy is attacked with total venom and vitrol.

It really is a relgion.

I have that effect on some people. You know the ones that like 77 year-old, transsexual, lesbian, Maori, Hindu, multiple amputee, war veteran, fat and balding chicks.

Pinnochio getting a woody might be funny...the rest is merely amusing (not that there's anything wrong with that).

And dare I say some of those commenters are developing a "Pinnochio complex". You know - they sit on his face and say "lie to me, lie to me"

They really do seem to be asking for it...

er, no. I always preferred cartoons involving technology. Does anyone remember that one with the transforming hover-cars? And lets not forget Terrahawk, Voltron, the Transformers, Space 1999, Thunderbirds, Doctor Who, V, etc.

Who could forget the Battlehawk?
