Height Makes Us Agro

In line with We are all Nasty all of the Time (link), I can't resist writing about this little gem published in today's Dominion Post. Yes, it does seem to be genetic for me, being a Tall Woman makes me more aggressive (therefore Nasty?). I must admit, I don't consider myself Nasty, but then like the five - seven year olds who don't think they ought to be smacked, I would, wouldn't I? Anyway, moving on ..

It was titled Tall Women Aim for Fewer Kids. The article was based on a study done by British researchers to see if height had anything to do with career and motherhood choices for women. And it did.
Taller women aim for fewer children, and put off having their first for longer. But they set more store by a career than shorter women, and are more competitive.

... taller women have more of the male sex hormone testosterone, which could give them more "male" traits, such as being assertive, competetive and ambitious.
Apparently these traits also make it harder for taller women to get men (as opposed to the height itself, my conclusion, not theirs). So, for the ladies reading this, if you are tall and find it hard finding a man who is not intimidated by you, get you now to your nearest martial arts club. Worked for me.

It's funny that people study these things.

I'm tall but I come across as the opposite of aggressive, assertive, competitive, ambitious...

Ah Suze, but based on your eye colour and wrist size, you may well be secretive, mysterious, unfathomable and surprising.

But Suze, you don't have children yet, do you? Admit it, you've been putting them off to further your career, haven't you? :P
