Food Nazis Goose Stepping Before Specials Counted

The know alls who want do control our every waking and sleeping minute can't wait to get their claws into us. These are the same sort of people who screwed up Kyoto. They want to dictate to us what we eat and not only that they want to dictate who can supply us with what we eat.

Proposals include bans on junk-food adverts on children's TV or near schools; banning high-sugar and high-fat foods from school canteens; a better balance in TV food advertising, and maximum limits on sugar and fat content in food and drinks.

There is broad support for the Greens' call for a tax on high-sugar drinks, with the proceeds to be poured into nutrition programmes.

A fat tax, panned last year when suggested by Diabetes NZ, is viewed as a long-term goal - the equivalent of the ban on smoking indoors.

I think the Maoris might be right when they tell the know all Pakeha health nazis to bugger off. The real answer is to encourage kids to be active. But no, it's easier to ban things. I say, ban parents from driving their kids to school. Make the little buggers walk. Ban all TV between the hours of 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm. Make the little buggers get off their arses and run around outside. Oh, bugger, I forgot we'd already banned running around outside because they might fall over and sue us.

I wonder how the food nazis are going to ban food with high fat content? You won't be able to buy butter, vegettable oil, hot chips, mutton chops, brie cheese, pork crackle, scotch fillet.

You voted for these drongos and now you've got them. Three more bloody years of it.

Just one message for the Greens and every other mealy-mouthed do-gooder nanny:
Fuck off out of our lives and mind your own goddamed business.

Well Kieth, the final count just might put paid to this nonsense. It put paid to the Greens who are unlikely to be in cabinet.

I sure hope so, adolf. At my age, after being shot at, jumping out of aircraft at night etc etc (and three wives) I have a very short fuse when it comes to being lectured by "health and safety" nazis, with their cornflakes degrees and zero life experience.
"Grumpy old bastard strangles health advisor" is likely to be the headline.

I wonder what the tax on marjuana would be.... Seems to be the only thing they were keen on letting us have - whether we want it or not.

Let me get this straight, Gary - banning unhealthy foods makes one a nazi, but banning inoffensive recreational drugs has your support? It's either nazi or it's not, buddy.

You're not the only grumpy (not-that-old-in-my-case) bastard, Keith. Diabetes NZ pisses me off. I'm a type 1 diabetic and stuff myself with butter and any other kind of fat every day and haven't ever gotten past 75 kilos. These twats look at fat type 2 diabetics and think "Shit! Ban fat immediately!" Maybe it's that all-carbohydrate diet you're telling them to eat, dumbasses! What prompts insulin rushes to the point that your Islets of Langerhans start to crap out? Pasta, bread, chips and soft drinks, mainly. I wouldn't trust Sue Kedgely or any other do-gooder to tell me what to eat. You've got to wonder what those idiots following her on tours of the supermarket do when there isn't someone around to tell them. Let's hope Labour can recognise political suicide when it's staring them in the face.

Carb diets are bad, man. Nothing like a pizza or pasta to make your brain go fuzzy. Should I get checked for diabetes?!

I don't think I called anyone a Nazi, Psycho. As you subltly point out, the greens are the hypocritical ones. Go have some sugar.

AL: Well most likely yes, if you're getting checked for other things anyway. Otherwise I wouldn't bother unless you've got symptoms. I eat pasta, bread, chips and soft drink too - the point is these loons are busy trying to get fat taxed when it's carbs that send your blood sugar up. And no that doesn't mean I'd like to see them pushing for a carb tax instead...

Gary: I just had some, thanks. They have this stuff called synthetic insulin these days, works a treat.
