The Practical Communists - NZ Labour

David Farrar has a lilariously priceless quote from Marion Hobbs. Not just out of the mouths of babes but this one just tumbled out, bouncing over Boo Boo's molars and incisors, to land clanging on the floor.

She proclaimed that for many years she was a member of the Communist Party but left (to join Labour?) because the Communists were impractical. So at last we have the admission that Labour are the commies you have when you don't have commies.

Read the whole thing, it is very good. I'm hearing similar reports on candidate meetings here on the North Shore. Encouraging with solid performances from centre right people and raucus noise from an increasingly nervous left.

She spoke to my politics class last year. Apparently she joined Labour but left it because it was at the stage where women made the tea and cake, and were not to participate in debate. So she went to the commies instead for her debating fix. Guess she got sick of them and went back to a more accommodating Labour.

If Marion Hobbs ever gets to make the tea and cake after the elections, she'll have risen to her natural level of competence.
