National finally releases health policy

National's health policy is out.

Highlights:
  • They'll spend more (surprise!) on residential care, elective surgery, Pharmac subsidies,
  • Universal primary health care subsidy scrapped for those 25-64 (does that mean the end of PHO's?)
TVNZ has an item up.

Listend to the radiosocialism health "debate" tonight.

Yep it means the end of PHOs. In fact, it means much more than that. It means the end of the "poorcard".

And most importantly: all health funding will be fully contestable between public & private providers.

You can either take your heath taxes and choose to go on a waiting list at an MRSA infected socialist state hospital, or go to a modern private hospital and have immediate treatment.

We're talking full-cost vouchers for private treatment (at which point, howmany surgeons will choose to work for slave wages in the state hospitals?) and also encourage State hospitals to contract our their operations to modern, efficient, healthcare companies.

The best comment in the debate was when Hobbs was arguing why schools were allowed to sell coca-cola (like I said, radiosocialism). She said: in a democracy, people can buy what they like. Then ACT's spokeswoman spoke up and in healthcare too! --- brought the house down.
