Release the spies!

Some Cubans, admitted spies by their own dear leader Fidel, are due for retrial but, apparently due to a full moon a group described as "intellectuals" wants them released. The background
A US appeals court overturned the convictions of the five accused Cuban spies on August 9 and ordered new trials, saying pervasive prejudice against Castro's government had prevented them from getting a fair trial in Miami. The Cubans are being held in jail pending retrial.
Fidel admits
Cuba has acknowledged that the five men were part of a ring which infiltrated the Cuban exile community and a US military base in Florida and fed information to Havana.
Those who just can't help themselves
Five Nobel prize winners, including South Africans Nadine Gordimer and Desmond Tutu, signed the letter. So did singer Harry Belafonte and actor Danny Glover, frequent critics of US hostility towards President Fidel Castro's communist government. Other signatories included MIT linguist Noam Chomsky and rock singer Manu Chao.
Being held in jail awaiting retrial for espionage, that is like torture isn't it? Of course if they were released there is no chance they would flee is there now? Chomsky, Belafonte, Glover, any other members of the Fidel Fan Club around? At least the headline described them correctly as "Cuba backers", makes a change. Hmmm, I wonder what the judicial process is for suspected spies in Havana. Something involving piano wire I expect.
