Much more worthwhile when the penalty is large

Apparently now there are much tougher penalties for gambling related crimes. This has meant that more people are being charged, because as the Internal Affairs spokeperson said yesterday on Radio Left Wing's CheckPoint programme 5 - 6 pm:
... "much more worthwhile persuing these types of offences" ...
So is this the new direction for attacking crime in New Zealand? Only persue those crimes that are financial viable to persue? Your typical break-in is not going to net a huge penalty, so let's ignore those types of crimes. Yes, treat crime like a business. Make crime pay....

Well, so long as they "legalise" appropriate self-defense and don't prosecute for defending life and property with judicious force. Somehow I can't see them letting people have guns though.
