Saddam wants his trial in Sweden or Poland

Baghdad,I raq (AHN) - Lawyers speaking on-behalf of Saddam Hussein say the former Iraqi dictator wants his trial moved to a neutral site -- Poland or Sweden.

Hussein would escape the death penalty if the trial was moved to those countries.

Attorney Giovanni di Stefano says, “I don’t believe in a fair trial under the conditions of war apparent in Iraq. How can you calmly talk with a client or hear witnesses when there are bombs exploding?”

Uh... yeah? Say no, Poland! Saddam made his bed in Iraq, he can lie in it.

Yes - Giovanni De Stefano was the "chap" who came to NZ and tried to broker a deal for Pakatoa Island. He also is the defence lawyer who won't show anyone a hard copy of his qualifications.
