Statcounter vs Sitemeter

Sitemeter seems to be having technical difficulties and isn't counting our visitors correctly, so I've signed up for Statcounter. Statcounter has a much better user interface and more functionality, but you have to pay when daily pageviews exceed 9,000. That won't be a while for us ;-)

UPDATE @ 2:35PM: As suspected, Statcounter has already counted more visitors in the last 10 minutes than Sitemeter was counting in one hour of this morning! Damn. Our readership may be far higher than I thought, even excluding those readers using Atom/RSS to access our site feed.

UPDATE @ 2:37AM: OK, so they're exactly the same at the moment. Will be interesting to see if they keep the same count over time.

Perhaps people don't visit in the morning. Anyway isn't it all worth it regardless of readership numbers?

Theres normally a big burst early in the morning, then another even bigger burst 12-2pm.

I see little point in continuing this blog experiment if we are only getting 5 hits a day. This is a free service provided by us in our spare time, so the least I expect is some sort of ego boosting validation by way of popularity ;-)

Labour Scandals on the other hand is an attempt to build an online database of various Labour problems. Hope to have time to get back to it soon.

But you never know which hits are going to make a difference.
For example, I read this blog fairly regularly. Therefore I am influenced by it. I have a relatively large circle of friends/family....most of whom I will discuss politics with at some point before the election.
But if all you want is ego boosting, that can be arranged ;-)
