Outright Lie

It didn't take long. The good old Herald via its reporter Ruth Berry has provided the Media Bullshit raters with our very first example of the Outright Lie with their piece headlined "Brash Rules Out Maori Party as Coalition Partner" The opening para tells us that Don Brash has "put the boot into the Maori Party."

But hang on a minute. When you read the fine print, tucked away in the article's nether regions (Hell, I love that phrase when describing Lefties and their acolytes) what he actually said was that he would be happy to go into coalition with the centrist parties but he didn't think the others "are likely to be keen to talk to us."

She goes on to take a simple coment by Dr brash that a combination of Maori Party and Labour would be dangerous for New Zealand and portray this comment as an attack on Tariana Turia. She failed to ask Dr brash whether he thought a combination of Maori Party and National would be good for New Zealand. (I happen to think it would.)

Well Ms Berry, B is for Berry and B is for Bullshit. Your rating on this one is 10/1. I just can't stand people who tell lies.

Update: 1310 Monday. Aaron B advises Jordan Carter has swallowed the Herald Headline and developed a great pontification upon it. Well done Jordan. Amazing how quickly lies get around. I hope you do better when you're double checking your Great Rangitoto's internal poll results.

[AL: full original text here, in case Jordan does some editing]

Come in Sucker! Bias Bullshit Rating 3/1 For being so dumb, Jordan.

I see Aaron has beaten me to it. From the comments on his piece I might have been a bit unkind to Ms Berry. But not to the Hopeless Herald.
