Maiden in Parliament

New MP Leslie Soper didn't hold back on referencing her typical Labour credentials. From her speech kindly highlighted by Jimmy Jangles:
Warm greetings to all my parliamentary colleagues and to my family and friends here today. I stand here as a proud Southern woman, a feminist, a socialist and a trade unionist, committed to Labour Principles and values, to Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a covenant between two peoples; to the causes I believe in; a New Zealand which is strong, fair-minded, inclusive, proud of itself and its place in the world.
No mention of looking out for New Zealanders, maybe thats the job of the Ten?

And guess what such a person thinks about giving a "Maiden Speech"... Jimmy Jangles has the details.

Luckily, God defends New Zealand from such infestations. With luck and an early election, she'll be gone by lunch time having not further troubled the Hansard.

What drivel. But she need not have overdone it - the Labour list has been finalised.

And her next paragraph said this:

'With reference to your own maiden speech, I support the need for a more appropriate, gender-neutral term for this occasion, and suggest 'inaugural speech' would better suit the privilege of introduction to office.'

Oh puke!
