Naaaah. Every time I see that it will remind me we don't have an air force.
What are you talking about? Our Super Seasprites can carry one Maverick missile each! That's all we need, unless of course the enemy has them funny things with wings.
I actually like it. I think it is better than the flag(ged) banner. Adolf has a point. Perhaps if the kiwi is replaced it might improve?
Yes... but replaced with what?
A bureaucrat? They don't need missiles, they'll just talk the enemy into retreat.
The Air Force red white and blue is part of the problem as well. What about something which denotes the right? Honesty, integrity, purpose, energy, hope, vision - you know, all those things the left gave away when they agreed to go under the thumb of Those Who Know Best
Here it isSir Humphrey's. Right for new Zealand.
So I throw the whole thing away then?Silent Running stole the march on us with the glasses.
The seasprites are part of the navy so adolf's point is valid. How about an nuclear explosion.
I like it Al.
I've got mixed feelings. I like the profile, because it is easier to stuff into the top left of the page above the menu, and same width. Not sure about it looking like the Air Force though, but the kiwi is certainly nicely symbolic. We could put some test in the blue ring below SH for TopSpin to brand it as part of the site. Could we perhaps put the text in the blue ring to make the logo more compact. It would be nice if we could fit the 'Te Whare Taha Matau' in there as a pisstake on govt departments as well.Actually, I am coming round to the 'red kiwi' - all we need are some crosshairs ;)
Any chance of superimposing the kiwi on the stars and stripes?
I'm just about finished redesigning it again, will upload soonish. I had a minigun sticking out of it, but thats probably a little too violent.
A question I had about the roundel (and I really don't expect anyone to know, but live in hope). The roundel is what is/was painted on aircraft of the RNZAF. It has a kiwi in it.The RNZAF ensign "has a light blue ground with the Union Jack in the first quarter and the Air Force roundel on the fly."(http://www.mch.govt.nz/nzflag/other-flags.htm)But the roundel on the RNZAF doesn't have a kiwi, but the letters "NZ". Why? And is one of them wrong (every official description I have read of the RNZAF ensign (e.g. in my copy of the New Zealand flag code) is that it has the Air Force roundel on it? Should the flag have a kiwi instead?
Graeme. Here's some pages, but first of all note the roundel isn't as firmly entrenched in tradition and law as ensigns, so they are much easier to change.General history:http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/nz%5Eaf.htmlPic of silver fern roundel:http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/kiwi.htmlA bit more general info at Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_New_Zealand_Air_ForceMore ensigns here:http://www.flag.de/FOTW/flags/nz_ens.html
Whoops - I didn't address your primary question directly. The official RNZAF ensign contains NZ in the innermost red circle of an RAF-style roundel, not a red Kiwi.
Replace Red Kiwi with Winston and Helen with a diagonal slash, and play something patriotic for those with sound. It's gonna happen anyway.
