The Ammeus Defence

I can smell it coming.

Saddam's lawyers have decided the only way for him to save his neck is for him to 'find God' while he is in prison. So the willing and co-operative Reuters is fed the line and the gullible Herald lays the foundation for the nexr chapter among the leftie intelligentsia of New Zealand. It will only take a week or so for Russell Brown to pronounce that saddam should really be sent to somewhere safe and secure, like PAris, where he can be assured of a 'fair' trial. If they really want to put the icing on the case, they'll have him embrace the Pope and ask for the trial to be held in Rome.

RAMADI, Iraq - Saddam Hussein hears little of the world outside and spends his time in US military prison reading and praying, his lawyer says. ...........

..........."He spends his days praying and reading the Koran and other books," Dulaimi said as he announced that the defence team would boycott further dealings with the tribunal trying Saddam and his aides for crimes against humanity.

As you probably know Adolf, after [how many years? 60+?) of secular life, Saddam "converted" 5 mins before the US hit Iraq, for obvious reasons.

Ain't it shameful that (a) punters don't already know this obvious fact and (b) reputable news outlets (who have NO excuse), don't publish this when discussing such.

He's survived this long by playing his enemies off against each other; I'm sure he's been thinking of the best way to do the same under new rules.
