Whining to the bitter end

Since rallying xenophobic anti-Westernism didn't quite work this time round for old Schroeder, he has decided to go out quietly and in a dignified manner,
"I do not want to name any catastrophes where you can see what happens if organised state action is absent. I could name countries, but the position I still hold forbids it, but everyone knows I mean America," he said to loud applause.
Or not.
He quickly composed himself, hitting his stride in a passionate defence of a strong German state and lashing out at "Anglo-Saxon" economic policies favoured in Britain and the United States, which he said had "no chance" in Europe.
Yeah, because that "strong German state" is dealing with chronic unemployment and non-growth just brilliantly. The last strong German state was also rabidly anti-"AngloSaxon" as well and that didn't work out quite for the best either.

David's Medienkritik has some thoughts from a month ago about Schroeder playing up the failure of a "weak state" during hurricane Katrina, implying that his "strong state" would have been better. The map comparing the size of Katrina to Germany is quite a laugh and they also wonder how the fabulous "strong state" of France managed to let 11,000 people die in 2003 when everyone went on vacation and left the elderly to die in a heatwave. They give him an award too,

As it would happen, John Ray has a series of posters from the time of absolute worst Chancellor ever and the joys of the last strong German state. Fortunately the new Chancellor seems to be a level-headed woman and knows what it is like to live under the "strong state". Today being Lady Thatcher's birthday seems somehow fitting too, with full-on barroom brawling going on over at Farrar's.

Not so much a bar room brawl Chefen as a bunch of sad conservative youngsters admitting they found these 2 inspirational. I mean for fuck sakes if you found Reagan inspirational as a youngster where have you got to go!

Schroeder's so dumb he doesn't even know where the Saxons came from originally.

As to "anonymous" - I'm not surprised you don't leave your identity if you have nothing intelligent to say, yet insist on saying it anyway.

Listen up ignoramus, as a working class scouser born and bred in Liverpool (England) in the 1970s, I can't begin to tell you the type of arse-hole country 30 years of welfare-state, corrupt Trades Unions and socialist shite had created. We had to put up with quasi-commies determined to turn the wonderful people who defeated Hitler into a Soviet subservient race of serfs.

The fact that Reagan and Thatcher turned the tide against these shameless apologists for failed infantile Leftism may mean nothing to a tool like you, but it sure helped me. Grow up you pathetic know-nothing minger.

Tough talk Jack. You should have stayed in Liverpool. I'm sure you would be a happy jack pining for those glory days.

Watch it anonymous, when a scouser starts calling you "pal" your face is about to make unpleasantly close acquaintence with his forehead...

Jack, you seem to lack an understanding of British post war politics, and the 'wonderful people' that defeated Hitler did well, but over 20 million soviets died to ensure that Hitler was defeated - I don't downplay the role of the brits, but neither do I downplay the role of the sovs (not to mention the unionists, socialists and communists in Britain and throughout Europe who fought the Nazi's, while many of their right wing colleagues came to an understanding with the occupiers). And psyco milt is that some sort of white supremacy symbol, sure fuckin' looks like one.

What I wanted to ask is why is the title of this post about the NZ right and the text of the post is about Germany??

Roll on the revoloution comrades!

Sure, why not. It's a proud white combination of the St George Cross, the Swastika, and that weird hakenkreuz Eugene Terre Blanche's lot used to use. You haven't read a lot of my posts here, have you.

We're all well aware that millions from the Tweedledee totalitarian regime died fending off the Tweedledum totalitarian regime, but it's of interest only to the extent that it let the democracies come out on top. I'm not surprised that Mr Bauer doesn't dwell on it. It must really grate that the ones who really sank the Nazis were those top dog capitalists, the Americans.

TL, don't forget to mention the further 60 mil or so Sovs who died to keep their own Hitler in power after the war. And I suggest before you sling shit around on this blog you at least demonstrate a modicum of common sense, if you have any, and read what people have said over a period before you label them.

Saying the Soviets sacrificed 20 million soldiers to defeat Hitler makes it sound noble and worthy.

That may be the case for the poor souls who lost their lives, but as is typical under communism, the lives lost were as much to BLAME the Soviets for rather than treat the Nation (not the individual) as an unsung hero of the War.

You also need to look at the role Russia played in helping Hitler build up weapons and supplies. You need to consider the victory days through Poland with the Soviets.

These are the people that allowed Poland to fall. They took the best of the Polish Army and murdered them. Three thousand officers in the Katyn Forest alone. They shipped people off to Gulags or dumped them in the country side to starve.

When Hitler finally attacked their former ally (with something like 8 million) 20 million soviets were thrown at Hitler. Advance or be shot. Many were shot by their officer "comrades". They were used as cannon fodder, with no respect for lives.

Part of the success of the attacks against the Soviets were because the Soviets thought Hitler would treat its former Ally better, and focus on the Western Front.

And now its talked about as the noble effort. It is to the Soviets great shame they wasted so many lives. It is to their shame they brutalised Poland before, during and after the war. It is to their shame they sat outside Warsaw and allowed the Germans to murder the Polish resistance and people.

We know exactly how much credence to place on Soviet post war propaganda by examining the next 50 years for Russia under Soviet rule.

The Katyn Forest order was for 25,000 officers, Zen, not 3,000. Not all the graves have been found and the Russians refuse to release the info to clear the whole matter up.

It's also particularly annoying that shortly after I've been telling Mr Bauer it's ridiculous for him to be going on about Leftists waxing nostalgic about murderous tyrants, one proceeds to turn up and do just that. Shee-it.

Having actually lived through post-WW2 British politics I think I've got a handle on it, thanks very much Tom...

And that's pretty decent of you not to downplay the roles of the "Brits" in defeating Hitler.

Considering we could have just done the same as Stalin, joined forces with Hitler to invade Poland, whilst avoiding the little things my Nan and Granddad had to suffer, like being Blitzed, etc.

(I'd like to up-play the roles of the Aussies and Anzacs here if I may in, parlaying Milligoon: Hitler: Our Part In His Downfall.)

Unlike the Soviets who helped cause WW2 before one murderous dictator stabbed another murderous dictator in the back. Who could have seen that one coming? Certainly not all the leftists/commies who supported Stalin supporting Hitler, until Barbarossa, apparently.

If it hadn't been for Britain, Australia, and New Zealand fighting the good fight till the Yanks arrived, we’d all be sprecking de Deutch. Russia or not.

Hitler killed a lot of people but not quite as many as Stalin who was quite happy to sacrifice 20 million as cannon-fodder in his insane endeavours.

And the reason this is all relevant in a mention of Maggie's 80th Birthday is quite clear. Like Churchill, she and Reagan said screw this appeasement with yer basic evil empire. And whaddya know. Turns out they were right and they won. And the global left has been even more bitter and twisted than you could ever believe possible. Makes my day.

Er, Jack... Churchill did appease the "evil empire". As soon as he heard about the attack on the USSR by Germany, he was on the radio offering all the help he could give. He never really stood up to Stalin in any effective way, so had a hand in setting up the cold war in the first place.
