RSF helps combat NZ media bias

Reporters Sans Frontieres must have been thinking of NZ when they released their booklet on helping Bloggers speak-up to combat mainstream media bias. From their website:
Blogs get people excited. Or else they disturb and worry them. Some people distrust them. Others see them as the vanguard of a new information revolution. Because they allow and encourage ordinary people to speak up, they’re tremendous tools of freedom of expression.

Bloggers are often the only real journalists in countries where the mainstream media is censored or under pressure. Only they provide independent news, at the risk of displeasing the government and sometimes courting arrest.

Reporters Without Borders has produced this handbook to help them, with handy tips and technical advice on how to to remain anonymous and to get round censorship, by choosing the most suitable method for each situation. It also explains how to set up and make the most of a blog, to publicise it (getting it picked up efficiently by search-engines) and to establish its credibility through observing basic ethical and journalistic principles.
I suggest you follow the link and download their PDF booklet before the information is blocked. Then get blogging. You didn't hear this from me.

Johnie, aren't you that guy who appeared alongside Sid Vicious in the Sex Pistols who went by your name....what was his surname again?

Um. Er. Oh yeah, Rotten.

You give off the same odour.

Johnnie, why do you say that?

1. We link to our sources.

2. We allow comments on the blog (unlike say, Russell Brown).

3. We have declared our interests (or lack of them!)

4. Opinion pieces are clearly recognisable as such.

5. We don't promote ourselves as an unbiased media source. Our position is pretty much in the open.

6. We are not funded by any organisation and all work on the blog has been without payment.

What's your specific beef? Or are you just annoyed our opinions differ?

Johnnie hasn't found a topic yet he can't turn into some opportunity for flaming someone on the right.

Yes, well spotted idiot/savant. You caught me equating NZ with China. Lets hope I have a weird sense of humour.

And I hope every-one spotted that I did not make any slurs or jokes against France (the French Government) for throwing some money into the ring for funding this little booklet.

Still, I haven't actually fisked the thing yet...
