Investigate Magazine covers 'Doonegate'

It looks like Sir Humphrey's features in an Investigate Magazine story on 'Doonegate', or rather the disinterest in the new Doonegate documents exhibited by every single New Zealand media outlet just prior to the election.

Here's what the Investigate blog says about the article:
2. Our friends in the Parliamentary press gallery (shucks, you're right, they probably don't see us as friends) who it turns out "forgot" to tell New Zealand voters fresh information on the Doonegate scandal broken by the blogsite Sir Humphreys before the election - a story that could have changed the election result.
We're a blogsite!

Now I've been contacted via email precisely once by someone from Investigate, so it will be interesting to see what angle they've taken in this story. Are we merely the source of the documents for Investigate's own analysis or are we the background to a broader story on media bias in New Zealand?

I might have to pop down to a bookstore later on today and have a looksie...

My word AL, what a curious coincidence.
You reveal this cover about Doonegate on the very same day that the commissioner who benefited from the scandal hands in his resignation.
By any chance are these facts related? I think we should be told.
It all highlights what a marvellous role Sir Humphreys has in breaking stories the MSM doesn't want to cover.
Likewise with Investigate. I can't wait to get a copy too. I too have yet to read what they have written but Investigate also deserves praise for bringing Doonegate and media bias to a wider audience.

Does such a thing exist?

hahaha Investigate shame!
They say the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about, but in the case of Investigate talking about you, you may as well pack it all in.
Write some Creationism articles and you may get an encore in that illustrious magazine

Dear Anonymous Commenters,

We are not responsible for the content of external magazines.

Stick to the topic - NZ media outlets ignoring new documents showing Clark lied intentionally to the media and through them the public so she could evade the constitutional protections offered the Police Commissioner.

Looks like a pretty good article to me. Only skin read it so far as it it quite lengthy.

I don't agree with Intelligent Design, like I don't agree with many an editorial you will find in the Sunday Star-Times.
However, it is because of failings in the MSM, their own biases, etc, that creates a need for blogs like Sir Humphrey or magazines like Investigate.
They are needed to keep an eye on the MSM, just as the MSM purports to keep an eye on the powerful.
Who watches the watchdog, you might say.
Just because someone might disagree with a magazine's slant on one thing, does not mean you can dismiss its other content.
Investigate had produced many scoops later picked up by the MSM. I recall the chemical dumps in New Plymouth and the scoop of the year, what John Tamihere REALLY thought of Helen Clark and her government.
Investigate should be out today.

Indeed darren. Investigate seems to be the only magazine that has a different opinion from the echo chamber that is the NZ media.

I reckon you're a leftwing nitwit who doesn't give a crap if a leftwing Prime Minister tramples all over the few remaining areas of Government not directly controlled or created by her office.

Did anyone notice Rob is retiring?

I completely agree GD. Robinson is a loose end requiring tidying up.

But the media never implicated him in the dirty goings on around Doonegate, so I imagine he's leaving because of the 111 debacle and for pushing traffic safety over criminal law enforcement.

Listen man, as if I am going to put any stock in some half baked internet conspiracy theorist with a super right bias, whom posts anonymously under the moniker of Antarctic Lemur, and whom has been proved multiple times to believe any smut or innuendo (see Peter Davies outing thread) peddled by other right wing nut jobs, OVER the fact this matter has been thrown out of court before, and the threatened civil case by those directly “aggrieved” by it turned out to be an election stunt that never eventuated. Its over rover, and it was boring in the first instance.

Please confirm for your audience that this site is in fact a parody, because this stuff is comedy gold

Yes, AL, the media never did its job- again!
But I suppose Red Robbo was only obeying orders. That's why he was Liar-bour's lapdog.
So Helen Clark is to get a new puppy for Christmas.
Wonder who it might be.
I am sure there is still more to be told. Helen Clark is still there to be held responsible for her deceit.
Investigate has again put Doonegate back into the spotlight.
Where next can the story go?

I't bloody funny to see these foaming lefties tripping all over their 'whoms and whos.' He probably brushes his teeth with diswhwashing liquid.

You know they are hurting when they desperately try to uncover the identity of the messenger in order to discredit a most unwelcome message. The message of course is that their leader is a completely discredited, duplicitous, uncrupulous, vicious lying bitch.

Anonymous.

I know nothing of the story behind the Doone defamation case, aside from the fact Doone agreed to indemnify the Government as part of his (forced) retirement package. However that is irrelevant to the lack of media interest in the Doonegate docs. Clark lied to the media and the public so that Doone could no longer function in his capacity as Police Commissioner. I have documents which prove that beyond doubt. When I publish such information here I am not requesting you believe me, I'm offering it for you to read and understand yourself. That is why source information is posted. I do not patronise readers by assuming they want opinions force-fed to them - I try and link to the sources.

Given you could at any time read the documents involved and come to the same very obvious conclusion leads me to conclude it is you who believes in conspiraces - that is, you think 'rightwingers' are out to manufacture evidence smearing a leftwing politician. Rather laughable really, considering the documents in question are quite clearly stamped and signed by the Attorney General and various other high-ranking officials. If you're to lazy to read up on the background material yourself, and you define anyone who doesn't share your political leanings as "conspiracy theorist" then don't expect to ever change your mind. On anything.

Re: Peter Davis thread. Mentioning a Prime TV video of Davis being kissed by a passing man is not smut. If you consider such activity smutty then its you with the problem, not me. I have no problem with homosexual behaviour. Are you suggesting being homosexual is something to be ashamed of? I don't think you are - rather that you are simply using the word 'smut' to describe our post as a cheap shot intent on insulting us.

Re: use of a pseudonym. I use a pseudonym so that anonymous insulting wankers don't use my background, occupation, gender, skin colour, etc, as the basis for an attack on my character and my arguments.

It also alternately amuses and irritates me that anonymous fools like yourself consider your own anonymous comments worthy of attention while attacking my use of a pseudonym. I've used the same nickname ever since I started commenting on NZ blogs. I have never used another, and I have never posted anonymously. I do that so people know who they are dealing with and where I am coming from. You should try it sometime.

Spot on Adolf.
No doubt, this is why lefties try and control the media.
We see as much in China or former Eastern Europe.
Think what might happen to our freedoms were Liar-bour to get a fourth or fifth term.
Thank God, or some other etity (Al Gore, the US defense dept, Bill Gates maybe for the internet :) ).
For much as they try, the lefties cannot control cyberspace. Though I suppose the UN will have a try.
Back to Too Right. A sound posting, which highlights how such a record of failure can only come from a PM putting lapdogs into roles rather than taking the best available.
Robinson's record of incompetence goes all the way up to the beehive, to the Queen Bee herself.
Yes, Adolf, she is to blame. She has fingers in all the pies. She talks off the record to the Sunday Star-Times. She verifies the story several times even though she has the official reports giving a different account to what she gave the media.

A nice try by Wind Up to change the subject.
But that is typical of the left.
Something happens that they are embarassed about.
So they try fair means and foul to smother debate.
Here we have wind up talking about undies.
I say knickers to him.
But let us look at other embarassing things the government have covered up.
And there was much in the election campaign.
Peter Hodgson assaulted a woman claiming he was defending the Pm against her and the woman was nowhere near our glorious leader.
Look how the lefties would have made a meal of a National MP doing anything like it. Oh I believe they did, some year ago.
What has since happened with Mr H? Do we have to wait for a new police commissioner to get a reponse?
No word yet, I recall, on Mr tennis Balls Benson Pope.
How is El Jefe this week? Fieldgate came out just before the election, but Helen downpalyed the story as best she could until all the votes were safely gathered in. The media also downplayed the issue initially and then there was even more scandal afterwards.
I could go on.
But Doonegate and the way it goes right to the heart of our democracy and the way a PM can abuse her power is something all people should be interested in and the media should investigate.
But they leave it to bloggers like Sir Humphrey and to an alternative magazine like Investigate.
Why is this so. Is it because they are as corrupt and incompetent as the government they purport to monitor?
Shame on the MSM, bravo to AL and to Investigate.

Well Wind Up can hardly be blamed for the undies but I can assure him they were clean. They usually are when you take them out of the packet.

What I'm really interested to see is how the doonegate story plays this time round. Hitting the deck on the day the bilious bitch announces her 'government' adds a touch of irony.

You'd hope so anyway, unless they go through some sort of quality testing process before being packaged and sold.

Not a bad article actually, has a few comments from the elusive Antarctic Lemur, and a few interviews with some media folk saying they had never heard of it. Interesting...

Another scoop for Investigate.
Yesterday, it reports Auckland uni was using aborted fetuses in experiments.
The uni confesses all in today's Granny Herald.
So to all those lefties who denigrate Ian Wishart's magazine, think again.
Now, all we need is for Granny to follow up on Investigate's Doonegate revelations.
Revelations Sir Humphreys readers were told about prior to the election, along with the Press gallery, including the Herald.
Now news of media suppression of the truth about Clark's honesty, or lack of it, filters into the general populace, soon the MSM will have to respond as more people realise the MSM is not doing its job.

doonegate is one of the many ignored till after the election issues. Rocksnot, slimeslugs (or whatever the hell they are) about to ruin our fledgling aquaculture industry are 2 more. Those issues were known about before the election, but were media no go zones. It is entirely possible that the problems could have been dealt with quickly and efficiently in a matter of days, but now some wholesale chemical destruction is going to be needed to kill the infestations. Blaming the jet boaters is a bunch of bollocks too. Why are the media such imbeciles?
