Hmmm. This seems familiar...

Winston is again the centre of attention:
National is to present Winston Peters with a proposal by the end of the day, outlining what New Zealand First could expect in a centre-right Government.

The party is meeting again with ACT, United Future and the Maori Party.

It is expected that following the meeting, a document will be presented to Mr Peters - at his request.
Remind anyone of a certain election during the 1990's?

And we all know what happens when Winston loses attention, don't we's my precious. Winston getses nastyyyyyy.

ANY deal between National and the Maori party would be flying in the face of why so many people voted for them.

You can't campaign against a race based system then embrace a party who's only reason for existing is to enforce apartight.

Yes you can - this is MMP, and no single party has a clear majority. So it's entirely reasonable for National to trade-off one part of their policy for a chance at government.

But yes, shades of 1996.
