Gored

Eric at Classical Values has a go at fisking Al Gore's monstrosity of a speech about internet, TV, media etc. Monstrosity, it's over 4500 words! Why you'd bother when he is still seeing digital brownshirts stomping the internet, I don't know, but Eric had a go.
Gee. The way he recalls the good old days of government regulations which kept Rush Limbaugh off the air, only to follow that with complaints that "they" have unleashed "digital brownshirts," I just have to ask something.

Might the man be secretly wishing for some kind of new leash laws?

What I found most disturbing about this 4,600 word diatribe is that either Al Gore has never heard of blogs, or else he has, and deliberately refuses to mention them. (Neither bodes well, in my opinion.)
Jeez, between the EU and UN trying to gain control of it and Gore trying to regulate it you have to wonder if we'll still be doing this in five years time.

Apparently if you are a digital brownshirt, your uniform can be purchased here.

Is it just me or does his "digital brownshirt" comment seem completely incompatible with his thesis that TV is a "one way medium" and the average citizen has no ability to participate in its debates?

He also says Dan Rather was 'forced out' by the Whitehouse. Is he for real - does he truly think people to believe that sort of crap?

I don't think it pays to analyse Gore too much, he went round the bend after losing a sitter of an election and never came back.

Yep. It's scary that he was within a heartbeat (or Florida) of the presidency.

Gore, Kerry, Latham. Can you imagine the respoective countries being governed by these guys? I mean can you really comprehend WHAT they would be like as world leaders?

WTF is with the political left these days? If these nominations were poker hands we would say the Left was "on full tilt".

Western democracy is looking as if it has an uncanny control within this Matrix given the number of bullets it has dodged.
