Da Vinci Code - the Movie

La Shawn Barber asks bloggers to be ready for the impending movie. The book was interesting. The movie is bound to create controversy. I think Tom Hanks is the university professor. Is there no-one else in Hollywood?

Hmmm. The book has more holes than a seive. And the supposed secret society was actually created as a prank by some people in the 1960's (from memory).

It is the only book I can remember throwing down without finishing in the last twenty years. But that had more to do with the shitty writing than a lack of story. There are three actors in Hollywood. Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford. Cruise doesn't do "professor" and Ford does Indiana Jones type professors.

gooner...what exactly was it...apart from a phenomenally successful marketing strategy/campaign/outcome for a book that, (for a moment), plugged into some permutation of the zeitgeist..that was interesting about the da vinci code..?

That's so funny Chefen. Reminds me of the legendary "D.R. and Quinch go to Hollywood" story. Back then there were just two actors in Hollywood.

They ended up shooting a film "Mind the Oranges Marlon"

I'm still laughing.

Does any-one have any idea what I'm talking about?

I might have gone to it if it didn't have Tom Hanks in it. Will there be minutes of footage devoted to him looking 'worried'? 'angst-ridden'? 'pensive'?

Angels & demons would make a better movie adaptation I reckon.
