Outright Lies #16

The Greens are claiming the EB brochures are filled with outright lies. I'm having a look at the claims, one by one, to see how the EB may have formed their opinion.

Outright Lie #16: The Greens Support Labour, who are failing to protect our environment

It's true the Greens support Labour.

I presume that it is true our Kiwi are going the way of the Moa. That possums and stoats decimate wildlife. The Hector Dolphin remain threatened. The forests are declining and water quality is getting worse. Labour appear to be all smoke and noise, but we need a party to light a fire under them.

All NZ'ers want our wonderful land protected. We expect our politicians to do what is necessary in this area. The Greens promote themselves as a party dedicated to keeping the ruling party on track. The thrust of the EB brochure (my interpreation of their opinion) is perhaps with all this diversion on legalising drugs, legalising prostitution, legalising Gay Marriage, fighting property rights, supporting same sex couples adopting and raising children, and so on are all detracting from being effective at their core aim: protecting the environment. It's just one theory, and they are entitled to advance it. It seems the Kiwis, Dolphins, Whales, Forests and Lakes might be depending upon a stronger focused environmental group to take the government to task.

Verdict: Guilty.

Note: The Greens chose to ignore this point rather than respond to it in their rebuttal. I am sure they do their best to hold Labour to account, and it would be up to Labour to defend this one. But if the Kiwi dies off people will not want excuses.
