Labour Led Tax Rises

I have blogged that the Labour modus operandi is to raise taxes in response to problems within the public services. Jordan Carter confirms he personally would like to see tax increases:
I’d like to see New Zealand with the *best* health and education services on the planet. Can never do that with spending at current levels, let alone with tax cuts.
He simultaneously acknowledges that Health and Education under Labour are pretty bad, and that the only way to improve them is to increase spending. Which takes extra tax revenue. Remember the Labour mantra - you cut taxes, and you cut services. That's before the election. If they get in again they start the next chant "To improve services you must raise taxes". We are already spending at over 30% of GDP, and its going to go up as the economy flattens. I blogged earlier about Germany spending at 50% GDP, and the health system in crisis. I also blogged about the Greens solution to healthy lunches at schools - legislate and get extra bureaucrats to plan a transition. Meanwhile the private school down the road solved that problem ages ago. Without government initiative.

Lets get a pledge from Labour - if the public buy your bullshit, can you guarantee no further tax rises for the next three years. Can you make do with your 8 billion dollar surplus and try a "budget"?
