That Idiotic Website

Aaron Bhatnagar and Gman have the background info on a rather odd website accusing Don Brash of being a divisive war-monger. The author Tom Hover apparently works for a multimedia company called 'Boost New Media', with contracts to various Government departments.

You might see him on TV soon, denying any relationship with Labour or the Greens. Aside from his propaganda contracts, of course.

Boost's major Government contracts (from their website):
  • 'Leading for Outcomes' - Ministry of Health
  • Audit New Zealand
  • 'Public Health Surveillance' - for ESR and the Ministry of Health
  • 'Up the creek' - for DoC
  • Taiaha CD-ROM for Learning Media
  • Spell Right! - for the NZ Council of Education Research
  • ACC Health Providers CDROM - ACC
  • Dealing with Injuries DVD - ACC
If there's financial corruption surrounding Labour it will involve their propaganda firms. After all, Labour relies on propaganda to spread its lies, attack its enemies and keep the population calm. The other beneficiaries of Labour's largesse are the free-to-air TV companies and related advertising agencies, and we all know how fair and bias-free news coverage on TV3 and TVNZ is.

UPDATE: Tom Hovey responds on Aaron Bhatnagars blog:
Hi Aaron,

I received an interesting phone call today - suggesting I go online and visit your website. Which I have just done so.

I like your blog. I think blogs are great, and it's good to see a popular and topical blog that you've obviously put a lot of time into.

As you know, I own the domain name bloodyidiot.co.nz. Making websites is my core business, and as you can imagine, I own a large number of domain names. I register them for clients, friends, family etc.

However, I didn't build the 'Bloody Idiot' site. But I do know the group of people behind the site and have asked them to take it down in light of the recent negative publicity from sites such as yours. They're very disappointed and have protested strongly!

Whilst I'm an advocate of free speech, as are you, your misguided attack on me and my company has forced me to take this action.

I guess you can say that's a political victory for the bloggers! I've told the group behind the website that you've given them a challenge. :-)

Regards,
Tom Hovey.
Translation:
  • I spout belief in free speech, but I have no responsibility for ensuring its accuracy.
  • And oh by the way, your challenge of my someone elses website somehow suggests you don't believe in free speech.
  • Despite obviously going to some trouble in reserving the domain name, and therefore hiding the true identity of the creators of the site, I'm denying all involvement.
  • It's all your fault Aaron. You nasty wasty man you.
  • I'm the victim here!

Get Happy said...

You are being way too precious considering the toxic crap that is spewed out on websites such as Sir Humphreys. It's an election campaign for gods sakes. This sort of robust campaigning including misrepresentation, outright lies and bad taste is par for the course.

If you dish it out expect it to be thrown back in your faces you humourless gits.
By 'toxic crap' I presume 'Get Happy' means criticism of Labour and of Islamic terrorism and confronting ridiculous lies emanating from the Left. I think 'Get Happy' might accurately be characterised as 'disturbed partisan'.

UPDATE5: New evidence emerges...

UPDATE6: The Wussell attacks! It's like being slobbered on by a dog - all wrong!

Go hard AL, the Nats have to deal with their spin, so be it. We have a saying on the farm...if you stand to close when the rotary shed comes round, you are going to get splattered.
Boost has to come forward and spell out who runs that sort of gutter politics or they just end up wearing the brown.

They're not really sent into combat, more in supporting roles (East Timor aside, and the SAS are deniable). But point taken.

Given that this website has been taken down, and the perps in question are either a) hotly refuting responsibility or b) cowering in anonymity, I think we can conclude that this was a successful little counter-campaign by centre-right bloggers. Many thanks AL for your assistance.

Sounds like Get Happy has got happy, with the aid of a bong and a brain bypass.

And here I was about to give the boys and girls from Sir Humprey's a serve for being soft centerist pussycats.

Oh well on with the protective suit and gas mask...

Sir Humphrey, have you noted how quiet all the Young Labour blogs have been about the bloodyidiot website? Most odd. I thought they would have been quite heavily involved in defending the website? Hmmm....

Hehehe. Another own goal.

Bringing in the LTSA and ACC was a moment of brilliance - who wants to face a threatening email from one of their own customers?

I think Get Happy was pretty close to the mark when he said "if you dish it out, expect it to be thrown back in your faces you humourless gits".

In this case, that is exactly what happened. He dished, we dished back, and he has gone from "get happy" to "was happy".

And, just to prove happy chappy wrong:

An aboriginal walks into a bar in the outback, wearing shorts, t-shirt and a single flip-flop.

Bartender says "Lose a jandal mate?"

Aboriginal says, "Nah - found one"

Given that our mainstream media sold out to the lefy years ago, I am really pleased that you guys are using blogs to try and keep some level of accountability in this election campaign. Keep up the good work. As an interesting note - I have just posted on my blog a little thought about what might happen in the next 20 years and how it might influence our views of the current situation. Don Brash wanting to return some commonsense and reality to our geopolitical and defense positions might ultimately be seen as a very good thing.

Welcome to Arabuni Community, the society made for Arabic tertiary students in New Zealand by Arabic students in New Zealand.
Arabuni Community is based in the University of Auckland campus. It is a non-profit organization run by volunteering students. This website is the core catalyst of the society where notices, events and interaction mainly occurs. We are always in welcome of people to join the society and help drive it with us to success; after all, the saying goes:

Sadly for Tom Hovey, Google's cache means that all the blog posts and comments about this will be a living testament to his lack of judgment - in case any future client decides to google search boost.co.nz and see what they have done. I'd give it a couple of days before Google's bots have this recorded for posterity's sake. Ouch.

Even better Aaron: For some strange reason Yahoo! returns Sir Humph's very high in their rankings even compared to normal news sites, muahahahahahaha.

Yes, Mr Hovey will be regretting his decision for a while.
