HI David. Nice to see you. Got the flight back then? I suggest you go get some beer and food. It takes a few comments to get the ball rolling.

The other benefit is a few of us hit the beers early. By the time you comment, we'll all be hailing you as the wise guru of the blogosphere, just for being able to type coherently.

Still, that's a challenge isn't it! Jordan - if you are out there. Wait until we are blotto and then see if we think any typical left wing argument sounds reasonable.

Hmmm. Fatally flawed suggestion. If it is, we now now why Communnists are perpetually pissed on Vodka. If we think it bollocks, then we might be less polite than usual. Err. If that's possible.

I'd like to make an observation or two on Rev Capill. Probably as well to be early in the piece.

I wonder how I would have gone if it had been me in his shoes. Clearly the problem was there a long time ago but somehow he could not bring himself to face up to it. I wonder if that was a function of the judgemental nature of fundamentalist denominations and/or sects? Funny thing is, I'm not sure when I would have called a halt. I am just so glad I have never had to face up to something like that. I remember that when birthdays were called up for service in Viet Nam there were 27 days called in my month and mine was not one of them. I have aleays wondered if I would have shaped up and I am eternally thankfull I have never been asked so to do.

Story with the fly apparently is that you can nuke it and it flies around in there happily, then you open the door, it flies out and explodes. This experiment occurred in my college's 7th form common room in my 5th form. I know, because I know the perpetrators.

That women's weekly special on H1 looks like blatant propoganda.

I could not have done what I have done and had a family ... and I don't regret the choice. You never look back, I have had a wonderful life.

Ugh, ugh, ugh. We would have all been better off if H1 and co had families and therefore couldn't have done what they have done!

No antibiotics. My first child had an allergic reaction to antibiotics when he was little, so I've learned to do without. Garlic works wonders, btw.

Well, their perspective may have possibly changed. The State might take control of all children 6 minutes after birth, instead of waiting the full half hour.

Didn't know garlic was useful for that sort of thing. Sadly I need antibiotics (I like taking drugs even less than I like going to a doctor) - turns out I picked up atypical pneumonia, probably from one of the boys I teach at BB. Thus I am home tonight, instead of with them passing it on.

OMG. Its been over 150 comments, and no-one has quoted Monty Python. Terrible. How about something from the Four Yorkshiremen:

SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:
Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of 'ot gravel, work twenty hour day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!

(Of course, we had it toff).

Full script

The thing is, though Ashley, all women have maternal instincts whether they realise them or not. My sister has cats, and she dotes on them like they are her babies. I have cats, but they're pets and they catch mice and tha's it. I think H1's maternal instincts have been targetted at NZ society instead.

I just went back and read Adolf's comment on Capill and Vietnam, are you still around Adolf? You sound like you're really torturing yourself there, or at least getting too empathic with the man. Yep, just goes to show that the results of the day could be anything. Polls are inherently flawed, but they can help shape opinion.

With the fringe parties (under 10%) I suspect the statistical variation potential is much bigger than mentioned on the polls.
