Chrenkoff is a joke. How can anyone take him seriously after the Media Watch expose.

ackers1 do you mean the 'expose' where a gang of lefties exposes a rightie to be a rightie?

A rightie and a liar or if you perefer a partisan hack. Much like his mentor Ms Albrechtson who has shown she's not above a bit of journalistic fraud to get her point ascross.

Ackers1. Hello there again. (Note the measured polite approach) I don't know about any so called media watch expose. Can you provide a link or reference? Thanks.

There was a famous splat between Janet Albrechtson, a columnist for the Australian and Media Watch,an ABC program, at the time hosted by David Marr a SMH journalist. Marr exposed Albrechtson lifting a quote from a French academic on rape, inserting her own words into the quote to change the meaning completely. There has been an ongoing war between Media Watch and the Murdoch press ever since. It was amplified by Howard appointing Albrechtson to the board of the ABC! A nice touch don't you think. The Chrenkoff story is part of this ongoing war. Albrechtson used Chrenkoff to back up her own claims of media bias at the ABC. It's quite an interesting story especially for Australians as it feeds into the ongoing culture war here and the continuing battles between the Liberals and the ABC over purported bias in their coverage of the war in Iraq.

Many thanks Ackers1. I'm sure you mean spat. Splats can be so messy. The story hardly seems to me to discredit anything Chrenkoff might say about Iraq. My own observation of the ABC during 14 tears residence in Aussie was that it was a hotbed of leftieism and still is.

All Chrenkoff is doing is regurgitating stuff he finds on the web along with press releases from various US agencies etc. If you do read him for long enough it ends up reading like Soviet or chinese propoganda about the glorious results of 5 year plans etc. His entire project is to ignore the complex reality and highlight what he considers to be the positive. If you take this "good news" theme to its absurdist conclusion then you end up being almost completely ignorant as to what is actually happening in Iraq..

The MSM is also reading from press releases -- after action reports, mostly. Chrenkoff's stuff comes from the same source, but deals with the other side of operations.

If you want a real, first person, on-the-ground view of Iraq that's not based on press releases of any kind, have a look at Michael Yon's blog. You'll be amazed.

Not based on press releases but looks very much like propoganda to me - an embedded blogger. Very cool. No wonder there is zero information on his background on the Blog apart from the fact that he is an "author" but a quick google brings up the fact that he is embedded with an American militrary unit. It's laughable what he has to say about the freedom of journalists to roam around and get the real story in Iraq.

And you got back yesterday Ackers1?

Well you could use the web to powerfully justify either position on Iraq.

Personally I don't know why one would imagine the Pentagon and the WH and London are not using propganda whereas the muslim insurgents are.

Anyway, if you wanted to talk about Iraq, the latest story is the draft (no, it didn't go away during the election), so why not discuss that?

P.S. Another important Iraq angle I would have thought is why do you imagine the Downing St Memo has not been discussed, ***at all*** by the American Media? I would have thought that high-powered irrefutable evidence that Bush LIED about his motives for going into Iraq would have been newsworthy in the US. But apparently not.

Oh well, I guess Bush is just a great guy and everything's fine. No doubt Judy B will let us know if anything really bad is about to happen.
