Oh no, Green fantasies dashed

After reading the Green Party blog writer again fantasizing about 1970's-style oil shortages, I stumbled across the front page of Fox News, where the following headline was prominently displayed:

House OK's drilling
[in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge]

Needless to say my heart goes out to all those Greenies who thought this substantial chunk of Alaska could be kept free of the viral-like spread of human development. Not.

Most Greenies I've met are the biggest bunch of human-hating self-righteous snobbish ignorant charlatans ever gathered under one political movement. Snobs because they tend to sniff their noses at the very The Warehouse-frequenting people they purport to be defending with their poorly-concealed extremist agendas. Human-hating because their agenda is oriented towards wealth-destruction and restricting our natural right to modify our environment for our own gain. Self-righteous for (well its obvious really), and ignorant charlatans because most Greenies you see in the media are completely oblivious to the principles of science, yet try and portray themselves as its rational face.

Drilling for oil in Alaska is one of those issues which contradicts everything anti-human the environmental movement stands for. Sort of delicious really.

And linking to the good news as reported by Fox just seems... so appropriate.

The photo below is of a geologist examining a natural oil seep somewhere on the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Such a photo must raise great contradictions deep within the soul of the Greenie: it is oil dirtying the 'environment', yet it is natural... how can this be?! Excellent pro-drilling website here.

Any large scale energy project is an anathema to the green religion.

Here is my take on this

The EIA have reported that ANWR is only likely to decrease US dependence on foreign oil from 62% to 60% by 2020.

Considering the US currently consumes 22 million bpd, 4 billion barrels aren't going to go very far.

Hardly worth it.
