El Mama The Godless

On Sunday morning, instead of the “usual sermon,” I sat through a twenty-five minute dissertation on the history of the Roman Catholic Church and the life of the Pope. The speaker was a protestant minister whose Masters thesis had dealt with the former topic. Among other things, we were reminded that Catholics have a great ability to laugh at themselves, much more so than we po-faced Protties.

The speaker traversed John Paul’s papacy, highlighting what he saw as the positive aspects of it and some of the not so positive aspects. He left us with an impression of immense respect for this Pope.

I was enthralled. We have a moderately close and very friendly relationship with our left footer friends just up the road – including financial support for their work with homeless families. Each year, the Chief Nun or Big Sister comes to our place and preaches to us, as a way of saying thank you. In spite of this, I have never taken more than a passing interest in Catholisim. For me, they represented just another brand or flavour of Christian faith.

So, it was a revelation to learn that at one stage the Pope was effectively the Emperor of Rome, the CEO of the empire, so to speak. Further, it was suggested that the Roman Catholic Church today represents the living embodiment of the long gone Roman Empire – the Empire at prayer; the Anglican Church similarly could be seen as the now defunct British Empire at prayer.

Interesting concept, I thought and then I was struck by a thunderbolt of divine inspiration.

The International Labour movement must be the living embodiment of the now dead Bolshevik regime, the precursor to the Great Sin of Socialism. The Labour Party really is the Bolshevik Empire at prayer, busy worshipping itself as hard as it can go.

Does this mean that Helen Clark is the Godless El Mama, elected by the conclave of Cardinals from the Smarmy Army and blindly revered by all the “tuggers, tossers, butches, word weaslers, feminists, eco-terrorists” and other acolytes who make up the Labour Party and its coalition conspirators?
