I'm astonished
Clayton Cosgrove and Helen Clark lied to the public when they said he wasn't involved in ringing Clark during the coup of 1993.
Most of you will have read Metcalph's
excellent account of developments to the Clayton sub-plot. For anyone not in the know, one of the new Tamihere comments released by Wishart said Cosgrove's career had been frozen because he ran an all-night phone campaign defending Mike Moore against Helen Clark's leadership push in 1993. This was denied by all parties involved, but ex-Labour MP Ron Mark has weighed in with his own account (see the Metcalph story linked above).
I gave Clark and Cosgrove the benefit of doubt because I assumed they would not lie directly to the New Zealand public. Must I now assume Labour MP's lie as a default political strategy?
Mike Moore is the one man who could clear all this up. What does he have to say?

I've seen H1 lie over and over to the public on TV. I guess she figures it increases Labour's poll ratings, and she's probably right. For example, she lied about JT being undress stress, I finally got a copy of Investigate yesterday and from reading the interview he seemed totally relaxed.
Normally its a fudge more than a lie, but this Clayton thing can be confirmed simply by contacting Mike Moore.
