Clark's plane makes emergency landing

A 6-seater Piper Aztec charter plane carrying PM Helen Clark had a mid-air failure of its main door this morning. The plane later made an emergency landing at Paraparaumu Airport.

According to the Herald, Clark was slightly injured (thanks Lucyna):
A spokesman from the PM's office said she was flung about in the bad turbulence that caused the door to open. Her seat belt restrained her but she was still lifted out of her seat and slammed back with her left elbow taking most of the impact.

A precautionary x-ray was done at Kapiti Medical Centre and the arm was sore but not broken.

She was lucky their x-ray machine was operational today. I think that's to do with whether or not they have anyone on staff at the time who can operate the machine. When my son's arm was broken, we had to drive into Wellington to find out for sure.

I wonder if they then drove The Gauntlet (State Highway 1) into Wellington?
